Finding your way around social media

Social media is a great way to keep socially active and possibly meet potential interest or just get to know people socially or in business all around the world. Many people think social media is for only the young, but as a 42-year-old, I find it not only great for my porn persona, but it also helps me keep up with the young-uns. For those of you who aren’t aware of all the social media opportunities out there, here is a brief overview.

Twitter

Twitter has been fun during the last political year! I’m a political junky and being able to follow my favorite anchors or politicians in real time is a thrill. It also gives insight into how people communicate in only 140 characters per tweet.

If you are a novice and social media hasn’t been part of your life, the best place to start is with a simpler social media site like Instagram or Facebook. But Twitter is a bit more relaxed on the type of content you can see or post, and it lets you see how extreme people can and do go. One disadvantage is that people can be anonymous, which means you can be cat-fished easily. So don’t go using it for dating, for example, even if you want to get to know other people worldwide.

Facebook

Facebook is probably the most popular and easiest social media site to work and navigate. You are able to post pictures in galleries, "Like" your favorite places or movies, check-in when you are out or tag a friend or family member. Once you become "friends" or "follow" someone, you are able to grow your connections through your friends’ friends with whom they interact.

Since Facebook has strict guidelines with regards to content and postings, it’s a great way to get to know people – through the friends they hang with, places they go and type of things they post. You are able to send a private message and hope for a great response.

I would highly suggest making sure you have several photos and posts on your Facebook page so people don't think you are a fake account or not serious. You can also join groups and interact with people who also are into that specific group or activity. In other words, you’re meeting people who have similar interests to yours!

Instagram

This is a great social application for posting pictures – as soon as you’ve taken them! You can connect through your Facebook account so your friends and followers can find you with ease. You can also "share" those pictures on other applications like Tumblr and Twitter. Recently, Instagram added a video clip feature so you can record short clips for your story line.

There is NO nudity allowed on Instagram, but it is fun to see people post from their "normal" everyday lives and/or seeing them with friends and family. I am a showgirl on weekends so I post a lot of flyers for my events, and pictures with friends.

Snapchat

Snapchat is definitely not something everyone will want or need. It’s a program that allows you to shoot 6-second clips and send it as a "story" to a specific person. The neat thing is they delete once the person opens the video (or they expire) so there’s no record of it. I use it to say hello, send a dirty tease, or just show little previews from my travels.

But don't be fooled into thinking the video is gone once opened… Someone can screenshot your snap so don't think all is hidden.

Tumblr

If you are looking for nudity and/or sexy pictures and small video clips, then Tumblr would be the place to go. This application is full of people sharing their favorite body parts, sexual encounters and interactions. This is the place online that I place nudity for my fans to see previews from my shoots or sexy moments.

You are able to "heart" what you like and share it if you wish. It's fun to see how much people actually post on tumblr and how many hearts one picture or video clip can get.

Although there are a lot of personal pages, you also get many people posting as a fan of someone or a specific sexy action like feet, ass, or big dicks, so before you personally message one of these pages, make sure it's an individual and not a "fan group".

As you can see, there are many different ways to get social in cyberspace! This gives you the opportunity to mix with people and gain friends while you’re online. So research the different options, if you haven’t already, and decide which ones are right for you.
